3 Things You Can Do Right Now To Increase Your Productivity

“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?” — Albus Dumbledore

1. Have a collection bucket.

In the Harry Potter series, Dumbledore has a “pensieve” in his office. He uses it to return to thoughts and memories, which he pulls out of his head using his wand to file them away for another day.

Distracting thoughts probably cost the world trillions of dollars in lost productivity each year. They’re in your head, but very real.

I find the best thing I can do is to pull them out and store them somewhere. David Allen calls this a “collection bucket” in GTD.

Just have a notebook or use the notes app on your phone, and whenever you think of something distracting you want to remember or get back to later, put it there. Review the bucket regularly. I try to empty mine every Friday.

For example, if you remember you have to buy milk in the middle of a task, put it there and the thought will stop nagging you instantly.

What Are Some Mind-Blowing Technologies That Exist That Most People Don’t Know About?

There’s this little thing called the internet. It’s pretty awesome. I know you have heard of it, but actually, most people still haven’t.

As of right now (checked 5th of January, 2017 via Internet Live Stats), 3.5 billion people in the world have access to the internet.

The current population is ~7.5 billion (checked same date, via World Population Clock).

That means 3.5/7.5 ≈ 47% of all people in this world have access to the internet – and 53% DON’T.

I know we all love talking about “the next big thing,” but actually, our last “next big thing” still isn’t quite here yet.

So before we upload and link our brains, live forever in VR and casually talk with each other over Skype, no matter what language we speak, we have to get everyone online first.

Facebook is making one of the biggest efforts in this arena with unmanned aircrafts, powered by solar panels and supplied with internet access via laser technology. They’ve already helped 25 million people get online.

Note: I’m well aware of the fact that people not having access to the internet ≠ people don’t know it exists, I just thought it’d be fun to point out, since we’re talking about space paint and meat from a tube when there’s a huge pink elephant in the room that also deserves to be addressed 🙂

Doesn’t this make you want to punch something?

If it were that easy we’d all be internet millionaires by now. Outlandish claims like this are based on either one of two assumptions:

1. You’re a marketing expert.
2. You have a massive pre-existing audience.

When you get 100,000 monthly visitors, you can just install a pop-up and collect an easy 1,000 subscribers without even having to worry about content creation.

But if you’ve never built an email list before and no one in your industry knows your name, you need somebody to take you by the hand and walks you exactly through what to do, step by step.

Lucky for you, that’s exactly what I’m going to do today.

10 Business Ideas You Can Steal From Me

Over the years, I’ve accumulated tons of business ideas I know I’ll never do anything with. Time to throw them out there.

Disclaimer: All of these could be invented already, worthless, or gold.

1. Readmypaper.com (domain might be for sale) — a platform for students to read each other’s scientific research papers. I always thought it was frustrating in college that we write these theses, papers, and reports, and no one actually gave a damn about them. People could ask others to read their paper and get positive/constructive feedback.

2. Google Maps for old people — seriously, I think you could make millions teaching people aged 50, 60 and above how to use the most basic apps, like Google Maps, WhatsApp or Skype.

How I’m Going to Wake Up at 5 AM Every Single Day in 2016 (& How You Can Do It Too)

Do you know those annual review posts household names publish every year?

Like Pat Flynn’s annual income report (I’m sure he cracked $1 million this year, go Pat!).

Or James Clear’s annual review.

Well, what about those?

They suck!

They’re supposed to be inspiring and helpful.

But the truth is, you’re nowhere near having any of the problems these guys have.
