Everything Is Singular

This morning when you woke up, that was a singular moment. The way you moved. How many times you turned from left to right. The exact second you sat up and began your day. None of it will ever happen again. This is true for every moment.

The last time time you cut your nails was a singular event. The last glass of water you drank was a singular event. So were the most recent hug you gave someone, the last time you collected your paycheck, and the latest concert you attended.

Even if you buy the same Lego set three times and assemble them all back-to-back, each round of construction will be a unique, never-again-to-happen event in this universe. Isn’t that remarkable? Something to appreciate? Singular in all senses of the word — because each exceptional once-off is worth being grateful for.

We track our lives from one piercing moment to the next, but the truth is every moment is piercing. A hole stamped into our punch card of time, leaving a unique cavity shaped in the form of our actions, feelings, and experiences. Everything is singular. Don’t forget.
