I Love a Girl But Don’t Have the Courage To Tell Her. How Can I Get Over My Emotions and Forget Her?

I can hear everyone’s advice right now: “Just go talk to her!” I love that advice. I really do. It’s the idealized, romantic super hero we’d all like to be. But in this case, I don’t think it’s practical.

We all have our moments. But more often than not, I found I’m better off telling a girl how I feel about her, no matter how I do it.

Sometimes, the ends do justify the means. This might be one of those times. They say love is like war and in war, no one worries about being fancy.

Right now, you have three options:

  1. Suck it up and try to forget her. This will take a long, long time and leave you heartbroken and miserable for ages. You won’t be able to move on.
  2. Tell her straight up. This might take even longer, because let’s face it, once you’re past a certain point, you’ve already admitted to yourself it’ll never happen.
  3. Tell her in a way she’ll think is cute, that you can muster up the courage to do. Now that, my friend, is your only good option right now.

Put those hormones to good use and come up with something creative!

  • Have one of her friends slip a note into her locker.
  • Put your phone number on her car.
  • Send her a scavenger hunt via text.
  • Record a voice message and send her that on Facebook or WhatsApp.
  • Ask her mum for permission to ask her on a date.
  • Make a video saying you struggled with this, but finally had to do something.
  • Write a poem, screenshot it, post it on Instagram and tag her.

…or, and you won’t believe this is still an option, write a letter.

The opportunities to creatively express your love in 2017 are endless. Use them. There are no rules and no one way of telling someone you care about them can be dubbed definitely better than another.

For once, it’s not the how that counts. So when the pain of remaining silent becomes too hard to bear, you do something about it.

Whether you walk, run, jump, dance, limp or crawl, I hope you’ll go get her.
