If You Were To Die Young, How Could You Enjoy Life During Your Remaining Time?

Most people don’t die at 25. Barely anyone is even remotely qualified to answer your question.

I’ll just be the first one to admit it. I’m not going to pretend I can give you step-by-step instructions for the last few years of your life.

Instead, I’ll leave something here. Just a few ideas. Experiences that make me feel alive.

Take only what might work for you.

  • Hugs. Each hug is a miracle. Two humans, colliding like particles. Just for a few seconds. But there’s always a spark that tells you: I’m alive.
  • Views. Most people lose their breath when they walk up a hill. I lose mine once I’m up. Every time. No matter if I can see for 2 miles or 200. I always feel small. Like a part of something bigger.
  • Rain. Listening to it. Standing in it. Running in it. Jumping into puddles. Find some rain and dance in it. It feels amazing.
  • Making. Create. Art. Music. Spreadsheets. Build something in your mind. Something that serves others. Then send it out into the world. It’s what we’re here for.
  • Friends. Maybe it’s one friend. Maybe it’s 10. Maybe it’s 200. Whatever the scenario, I never feel alone, sad or bored when I’m with my friends.
  • Family. Just like friends. Only safer. Warmer. Timeless. Priceless.
  • Laughing. Watch funny videos. Tell jokes. Prank a friend. See a silly movie. Laugh so hard you cry. Until your stomach hurts.
  • Music. It’s the only drug worth getting addicted to. Turn it up. In your car. Alone at home. Sing at the top of your lungs. Listen quietly with headphones. To me, a day without music is a lost day. Try this one.

This isn’t a to-do list. It’s a feel-alive list.

Look at it. What makes you go “ohhh, that sounds amazing?” Give that a try. I hope you’ll like it.

I’m sorry you have to go so soon. It really sucks. I feel for you. And I wish you the energy to make every minute count.
