Looking vs. Finding

Yesterday, I wanted to try a new café I had spotted on Google Maps. On my way there, I took a slightly different route than usual, and about one block before my destination, I bumped into yet another café. Also new. Also inviting. I went in, browsed around, and walked straight back home with a magnificent iced cappuccino in my hand.

The café I found was not the one I had been looking for, yet it served me better than my original plan ever could have. On top of great coffee, I got a pleasant surprise!

It’s all well and fine to look. Looking is our default, and there’s no point in denying our nature. But “to find is the thing,” like Picasso said. Be open to find at all times.
