Slide In a New Backdrop

Yesterday, I struggled to send out job applications after lunch. For some reason, I just couldn’t get going. I wandered from the living room to the office and back, procrastinating. Then, it hit me: “I know what backdrop I need!”

I threw my laptop into my backpack, walked down the road for about ten minutes, and plucked myself down at the corner cafe. The sun was out, the cappuccino arrived, and the air around me was buzzing with conversation. I put on headphones, started sipping, pressed play, and voilà: nine applications sent within an hour.

Sometimes, just like in a theater play or cool music video, for the story to continue, you must slide in a new backdrop. Don’t hesitate! Change your environment, change the odds. The next time you’re stuck, roll in a different painted flat, and let the magic of the scene carry you to the next act.
