It happens to all of us. Just now, instead of writing, I checked a big trader’s social media account. “Is he still talking about that one coin I own? Does he still think that thing will ever go up?” 15 minutes later, I was none the wiser. My trusted source hadn’t posted any new updates about my coin. I was, however, out of 15 minutes of writing time. Damn you, enticing algorithms!
Still, just like in meditation, I did the best I could do: Once I realized what was going on, I snapped out of it. “Okay. You’re looking for reassurance. There’s none here. Why don’t you just pass the time in the way you intended?” Now, here I am.
Especially on feelings-first days, reassurance can look like a lump of gold lying on the floor. But the minute you bend down to pick it up, you only end up stumbling over it. Our endless hunger for certainty can never be satisfied. It is only in doing what we came here to do that we gain inner peace.
Don’t kick yourself when you’re already wobbling. Try to keep your balance, and if you can’t, just get back up. Eyes forward, continue walking. The path itself holds all the answers you’ll need.
