The Amazing Race is a multi-week scavenger hunt around the world. As teams compete in the various legs of the journey, transport is always a critical issue—and often a bottleneck.
In one instance, the team in first place caught an early ferry no one else managed to get on. They raced through the next stage, miles ahead, until, on their way back, they had to wait 40 minutes. One by one, almost all of the other teams trickled in behind them. For the first team, those 40 minutes felt like an eternity. For the rest, time compressed and allowed them to catch up.
Thankfully, life is not a race. In fact, it’s often more fun if everyone is on the same boat. Don’t rush when there’s nowhere to go. Traffic lights, the doctor’s office, hoping for the right letter in the mail—sometimes, you’re just waiting for the ferry, and that’s exactly where you should be.
