What Is the Best Music To Listen To While Studying?

“Without music, life would be a mistake.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche

Before you pick some music to study to, always ask this question:

Will listening to music help me with studying this?

I loooooooooove listening to music while studying. But sometimes it just doesn’t work. For example I had to memorize legal definitions for an exam a few weeks ago. I did that without music.

If you think music will help (which it can, see the Mozart effect), the next question is:

Music with or without lyrics?

For example, when solving math problems, it might not matter if you listen to a song with lyrics in your language, but when you’re writing an essay, instrumentals might work better.

That said, here are my favorite tools and categories of music to listen to while studying.

1. Song on repeat

Listening to one song over and over and over again works for me. I use ListenOnRepeat, which you can also activate by simply going to the URL of any Youtube link you’re on and typing ‘repeat’ behind the word ‘youtube.’

2. Sound Mix

You can also create a mix of noises and custom sounds with a tool called Noisli.

You can add different sounds to the mix, such as rain, wind, leaves rustling, a fireplace crackling, waves, train rattling and even sounds in a coffee shop. You can adjust the volume individually to simulate whichever environment you want or pick one of their pre-defined settings.

Pretty cool!

Hope those help you. To music!
