What Is the Best Thing You Read Today?

Today, I talked to Zdravko Cvijetic who wrote the #1 article in the history of Medium.

In April, I wanted to break down what he did and craft a similar article myself. I followed his lessons and asked him a couple of questions on Facebook. He was very kind and helpful, even though he was insanely busy with a course launch for his business, Zero to Skill.

I published “13 Ways To Get Your Grip on Life Back” at the end of April, and sure enough, it became my second most popular Medium post with over 1,000 recommends.

Some time later he wanted to ask me some questions about Quora so today, we hopped on Skype.

We talked about what we’re up to, about online business, about stats, about numbers, about hacking things. We talked about life, about the endless amounts of opportunity around us, about high hopes and crazy dreams.

We also talked about why so few people try to shoot for the moon and scratched our heads how we can get more people to actually take action.

After we hung up, Z sent me his favorite article.

“I’ve read it at least 20–30 times and each time I learn something new,” he said.

It’s called “The Million Dollar Question” by Sebastian Marshall and it’s the best thing I read today.

You’re dropped right into the middle of Sebastian’s story. As he slowly untangles the situation he realizes something. After you finish reading it, you will too.

We always talk about the fear of failure and how to overcome it. But that’s the easy part. We all overcome our fears of losing to some extent.

What we’re all more afraid of, actually, is succeeding.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.” — Marianne Williamson

The world is split into two kinds of people: those, who overcome their fear of success and those that don’t. But it takes more than a conscious decision. Getting rid of this fear comes at a price. You trade it for something else.

This essay will show you what that price is. And what side you’re on.

That’s what makes it a great, yet terrifying read and it’s why it’s the best thing I read today.
