Why Life Is More Than Dumb Survival

Are you looking for someone else to tell you that your life matters? Do you want outside confirmation? Perhaps you’ve handed off the responsibility to make it so to someone else.

That’s a weak strategy.

Dumb survival is the least important in the grand scheme of things.

You know why? Because dumb survival will only last you so long. We all die. None of us will live forever. That’s pretty much the only thing that’s set in stone.

With every passing day, the probability of you living to see the next goes down. A struggle against that is a struggle entirely in vain.

Dying is the hardest thing you will ever do. Once you come to peace with that, you’ll come to peace with everything else.

Letting death rob your life of meaning is a choice. But you can also choose to let it add meaning.

Take a look at what Will Smith says:

I want the world to be better, because I was here. I want my life, I want my work, my family, I want it to mean something.

If you’re not making someone else’s life better, then you’re wasting your time.

This is a question of perspective. Which perspective you choose is up to you. You’re free to change it at any moment.

The sooner you do, the sooner you can start living.
