You Either Work on What Matters, or You Work on What Doesn’t

There is nothing in between.

Sometimes, we choose the unimportant because someone else told us to. Sometimes, we lack the energy, physical or mental.

Most of the time, we do it because we’re scared. In our modern world, fear rarely tells us what’s dangerous — it tells us what matters.

Once you’re a proficient writer, it’s easy to churn out more. It’s scary to resist publishing. The fear shows you where the growth is: Repeat yourself forever, or work on bigger things.

It doesn’t matter whether you send emails, juggle numbers, coordinate people, or ship projects. There’s always one that’s important and one that isn’t.

Choose what’s important. And, like Glennon Doyle says, “If you can’t beat the fear — just do it scared.
